Well, folks, the 2025 Formula one season finale in Abu Dhabi was a race of truly... minor historical significance.

It was a billed as a tense, high-stakes showdown, a final winner take all race for title. What we got, lets be honest, is a dull race with no adapting strategy. Aside from one move in the fist corners from Oscar, the front of the pack fell in line and ultimately stayed there. Max was able to cruise to a relatively easy race win. The precession of Verstappen followed by the two McLarens carried on for the duration, followed by Leclerc who was ultimately unable to mount any real attack on Lando.

When the one bit of strategy Red Bull had left in the tank presented itself, Yuki Tsunoda was called upon to mount a defense that would echo 2021 Checo vs. Hamilton. Only this time Yuki would only measure up to his own stature, far too small of an effort. The one interesting moment left came as Lando took to the runoff area to get around the Japanese defenseman and move back up the field. Yuki received a penalty for weaving [FIA]"car 22 made more than one change of direction..." Note that Yuki received a penalty for changing directions, more importantly he did NOT receive a penalty for forcing another driver off the track. Meanwhile Lando received a 'no further investigation' for [FIA] "FACT : Car 4 left the track on the straight between T5 and T6 and allegedly gained a lasting advantage." I think the wording of the penalties is important here. Note both broke rules but only one received a penalty... Is it still hip to cry British bias or did that fad come and go already?

The Brit was able to maintain his position till the end. He finished third, which was just enough to secure the Drivers' World Championship. Honestly, it felt a lot like getting a participation trophy for showing up to the last practice session. He didn't win the race, but he did enough. He beat Max by 2 points, securing his position as best for the year.

In the End the whole race just sort of... happened. One moment the lights go out and we're racing, the next, the team radio was congratulating Lando for successfully completing 58 laps, and Zac Brown was screaming he was a champion.

Did we get a final race? Yes. Was is interesting? Maybe not. Ultimately the season concluded and a champion was crowned. Lando Norris raced the entire season and outscored all others. He gets to add his place to the history as Champion Of the World. The 2025 season is in the books and we can begin to look ahead to the stories that will play out next year.

So, for this final time, let's toast to Max Verstappen for his dominant race win, Oscar Piastri for a brilliant podium, and Lando Norris for... being in the right place at the right time, I guess?
